HISTORY

The origin of our Society goes back to October 1964
The origin of our Society goes back to October 1964, when a special Section for Haematology and Transfusion Medicine was founded within the Slovenian Medical Association. The Section remained active until 1969, when transfusion specialists separated to form an independent organization. The Section for Haematology was founded in April of the following year. In March 1999 it was transformed into the Slovenian Haematological Society.
At present our membership includes more than 60 internists, paediatricians, biologists and other experts with special interest in haematology. Our Society is a member of the Slovenian Medical Association and the European Hematology Association. In cooperation with the Slovenian Society for Transfusion Medicine, we organize two meetings per year, at which topics of current interest are discussed. The Society holds a congress at intervals of four years.

Our membership includes more than 60 internists, paediatricians, biologists and other experts with special interest in haematology.
